For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, as the sun crosses the equator from south to north, it brings with it warmer weather and longer days. So, what exactly is an equinox? It’s when the sun is positioned directly above the Earth’s equator (happening twice yearly on the vernal and autumnal equinoxes). But the astronomical one aligns with the vernal equinox, which is the 20th of March. The meteorological season would tell you that, in the Northern Hemisphere, spring begins on the 1st of March. What is the vernal equinox?Ĭall me greedy, but I want spring to last as long as possible, which is why I often go by the meteorological seasons over the astronomical. Living in Scotland is no different, except I am exchanging bottlebrushes for cherry blossoms, spring in March instead of September, and trips to the Scottish Highlands instead of the Blue Mountains. I can sit in the gently warming sun for hours and not worry about the burn that summer brings. That knowledge that the weather is about to clear. The moment I caught a whiff of those in the air, I knew it was time. The sharp zesty-ness of the tiny white gardenia. The biting sweetness of a jonquil flower. Growing up in Australia, it was always about the smell for me. Flowers blanket the ground, hiding the hard winter earth below. The sun peeks out from behind the clouds, yawning awake after months of quiet contemplation. Keep the candle burning for as long as possible (don’t leave unattended).įollow your intuition and your own guidance when conducting these rituals, they are designed to be simple so you can adapt them anyway that feels right to you.Such a short, simple word and yet it ignites a warmth and excitement in people that is hard to rival.Throw the piece of paper away. Discard the herbs in the garden or outside.You can dump the water outside, in the sink or in the bath. When you feel ready, state out loud “I release this” and dump the water out. Take the bowl and hold it up against your hearts center. ![]() Watch how the paper gets soggier and soggier. ![]() Swirl the water around again with your finger either 3, 7 or 9 times.Fold the paper up and place it into the water. State what you want to release out loud 3 times.Take your pen and paper and write down what you want to release in your life.Use your finger and stir the herb water around in a clockwise direction 5 times to generate some energy.just make sure you empty them out from the tea bag. You can get creative here and use herbal teas like chamomile etc. Meditate holding your crystal for a few minutes to help clear and release your mind.Find a quiet place to do this ritual where you can’t be disturbed. Light the candle and place it next to your bowl of water.1 Candle: white, yellow, green, brown, orange or red.Assorted Dried or fresh herbs (any will do, you can even use herbal tea).This ritual is perfect for releasing the past, clearing negative beliefs or feelings and getting ready to welcome in the new. If possible, place the flowers into a vase and keep them in your house.Leave your candle burning for as long as possible (don’t leave candle unattended).As you throw your flower, feel your intention being lifted up into the Universe. When you feel ready, release your intention out into the Universe by picking up your spare flower and throwing it up into the air.Perhaps take a few deep breaths or meditate for a while longer. Take in the energy of your sacred circle.Say your manifestation aloud three times, then light the candle.Place the candle and the piece of paper inside the circle.Arrange your flowers into a circle leaving one to the side for later.Write down on your piece of paper what you want to manifest or create. ![]() ![]()
